Joe Buford is a quiet, somewhat soft spoken, young man until he gets behind the wheel! Often been called "Nashville Speedway's 'Mr. Excitement,'" it only takes one race and you'll see why!!!
Started his racing career in 1989 at Duck River Speedway in Bedford County Tennessee, won two races in the 1989 and 1990 seasons. Following in his father's footsteps, James "Flookie" Buford, two-time Champion of Nashville Speedway (1971 and 1972,) was told by his father that "if you're serious about racing, you have to go to Nashville Speedway." Knowing that Nashville Speedway has had graduates such as Darrell Waltrip (55 wins,) Sterling Marlin (51 wins,) and Bobby Hamilton (27 wins,) Joe knew this was the next step he had to take.
First year at Nashville Speedway (1991,) Joe won 3 races and "Rookie of the Year" honors.

In 1992, Joe moved to the premier division at Nashville Speedway. Having a desire to be the best, he graduated in 1993 from the Buck Baker Driving School at North Carolina Mother Speedway in Rockingham, N.C. Since then, Joe has won 66 races (and counting!) He is now the All-Time winningest Driver breaking Darrell Waltrip's all time record at 55 wins. Joe has been named "Most Popular Driver of the Year" for 6 years (1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2001, 2002.) By 2002, Joe has won 4 Championships at Nashville Speedway (tied Sterling Marlin's record for 3 consecutive Championships.) Other highlights include finishing 2nd in the NASCAR Heartland Region Points 3 times (1998 missed 1st place Nationally by half a point,) 2 wins in the Southern All Star series, raced to a career best of 3rd in the Goody's Dash Series at Daytona, plus has competed in the All Pro, Busch and Craftsman Truck divisions of NASCAR.

It has been a while since there has been a driver from Nashville Speedway that creates as much excitement as Joe Buford. With high demand on his time, Joe still finds time to help out such Charities as Vanderbilt Children's Hospital. You can always find him after a race, talking with fans that flock to his trailer after the races to just say "hello," or to get an autograph or picture of a future super-star in the sport of auto racing.
Next time you see Joe at a NASCAR race, make sure you say "hello," he'll be glad to say "Hello" back to you!
